Fred C. McIlhattan had a long career of service to his hometown and surrounding area as County Commissioner and PA State Representative. Although he accomplished much as a politician, he derived the most personal satisfaction as a North Clarion substitute teacher and as an advocate for Milton Hershey School. He believed in the students and was so very proud of their accomplishments.

Fred C. McIlhattan Memorial Scholarship has been established to help be an advocate for students and give them hope that they will be more than their situation as he had done for our artistic director. The amount of recipients and the scholarship amount will be determined on a yearly basis.

Students should meet the following criteria:

  • comes from a lower income family

  • an active member of their community through volunteering or civil service

  • students should be in good academic standing

  • must be attending a post-secondary institution (tech school, trade school, college, or university)

The scholarship will be paid directly to the student to use for books or other living expenses during their time continuing their education.
