internship programs

We are seeking dedicated, self-motivated lovers of extraordinary literature to join our internship program. Interns will be active members of the team, contributing directly to the work we do to celebrate boundary-defying literature from voices unsung and in all areas of new play development. We are offering literary and theatrical internships; internships are currently unpaid, but we have participated with colleges to grant credit for the duration of your internship.

Literary Internship

Literary interns will work with our editorial team to read and evaluate the submissions for our seven literary magazines and collections that Paragon Press considers for publication. A nuanced perspective on the possibilities of writing, as well as thorough familiarity with modern literature is necessary for this role. We are currently seeking editorial interns in both poetry and prose.

TIME COMMITMENT

Approximately 5-10 hours a week, possibly more during high-volume submission periods. This is a 15 week-long digital internship.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong ability to work independently and consistently meet deadlines

  • An ability to critically analyze literary work, and a keen eye for detail and craft

  • A love of contemporary literature, and a passion for independent publishing

Theatre Internship

Theatre interns will work with our production team to read and evaluate the submissions for our new play development program. A nuanced perspective on the possibilities of writing, as well as thorough familiarity with modern theatre is necessary for this role. In addition to selecting works to be developed, we will ask that interns help with casting for the virtual workshops via Backstage.
